Swelling in lady area, very annoying :(?

basically i had a bit of a skin infection from shaving there, the skin got damaged and some staph bacteria from the surface of the skin got in and caused a boil. the boil is gone now, but its been 6 months and the swelling in the area is still there. my doctor said there's probably some infection still there the body is fighting but that once it clears the swelling will go too. she wont give me anything for it, when on earth will it go? is there anything i can do to try and make it go faster? its already been there 7 months :(
