Can you get a staph infection from being fingered?

Today my boyfriend found out he has a staph infection, the cause of which is a sore on his leg. Last night when he was over, he fingered me. If he touched the infected sore on his leg, and then later that night fingered me, is it possible I get the staph infection internally?
